Welcome to the Minnesota Decoy and Wildfowl Carving Club (MDWCC). The MDWCC promotes all types of decoy and wildfowl carving, meeting the first Tuesday of each month at Hope Lutheran Church. The monthly meetings include club business as needed. Once business is completed, members who brought items, talk about their current and past projects in the show and tell portion of the evening.
The MDWCC is fortunate to have several experienced and champion carvers as members, who freely offer their skills to club members. The benefits are great for those new to decoy and wildfowl carving, young carvers, and to those wishing to share or improve their own skills. All ages and skill levels are welcome! During the last hour of each meeting, there is an educational program offering skills and techniques to members. The monthly programs includes all aspects of decoy and wildfowl carving. From weighting and floating your hand carved decoy, to how to carve and burn feathers into a decorative wildfowl carving, how to set glass eyes, how to make bird feet, painting in acrylics or oil paints, the list goes on. Another benefit of the MDWCC is the extensive Reference Library. The contents of the reference library are available for members to check out, bring home and use for the month on their own workbench. These items include carving technique books, decoy and wildfowl carving pattern books, photo reference books, study castings, and more. The MDWCC promotes decoy and wildfowl carving to youth through various annual projects, and through other annual events. Each August you will find club members set up and carving at the Game Fair held in August at Armstrong Ranch in Anoka, MN.
